If you are hurting today, press on and run with endurance!
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I often wonder what it’ll be like when I finally cross from this life into the next. When I cross that finish line, I think I’ll feel like a marathoner, bursting through the tape, collapsing on my hands and knees. I’ll fall onto the sands of that celestial shore, heaving, sweating, and gasping, saying, “I made it. I can’t believe I made it!” And then, I imagine lying there with eyes closed, and I’ll feel the presence of someone standing over me. I’ll open my eyes and it’s Jesus! And he’ll whisper, “Welcome home, sweetheart.” And then he’ll pull me close and pat-pat my back like Daddy used to do, and he’ll say, “Oh, Joni, it’s been hard and long, I know, but you’re home now. And you’re safe.” Oh, friend, that picture helps me run my race with endurance as I suffer, just like it says in Hebrews 12. So if you are hurting today, be a marathoner; press on and run with endurance.
