A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Flying Blind

Episode Summary

If you live life using scripture and prayer, you’ll enjoy a smooth landing on any foggy day.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I once talked to a pilot friend who described how he lands his plane in a deep fog. He told me he has to be extremely alert as he guides his plane on, what he called, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). If it’s a thick fog, and he’s flying blind, he has to totally depend on his instruments and the signals from the control tower. Well friend, you know as well as I that often we go through life “flying blind.” And I don’t know about you, but I can get a little panicky when things feel cloudy, and the future looks foggy. When my thoughts are confused, I have to live on Instrument Flight Rules. Like, “check mission, check attitude, check source of strength, have I prayed? Check. Am I in the Word? Check.” Just remember: if you live life using scripture and prayer – and those are God's Instrument Flight Rules – you’ll enjoy a smooth landing on any foggy day.
