No matter how you’re feeling, follow the Lord’s lead and pick up your cross daily. Let God put a song in your heart.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And it doesn’t matter where I am, I love to sing. My heart wants to sing whenever I’m going through the routines of life. But have you ever wondered if Jesus sang? Well the only place that records such a time is in Matthew 26. The scene for the song is not a happy one. It was in the Upper Room the night Jesus was betrayed. And it says, “After he broke the bread and offered wine, they sang a hymn and then went out to the Mount of Olives.” Oh my goodness, of all the times and places Jesus chose to have us remember him singing, it was as he was being led to his death. This so speaks to me in my wheelchair. It shows me how to follow the Lord in song when my heart is heavy or when I am facing hardships. So, friend today, no matter how you are feeling, follow the Lord's lead. Pick up your cross daily, follow him – and let God put a song in your heart.
