Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As a little boy in China with cerebral palsy, Yang knew that he was different. His loneliness was only multiplied when his mother died. Soon after, Yang’s father left him with his grandparents. Because Yang’s grandparents worshiped idols, they looked at their grandson as a burden. But when Yang was 13 years old, he met our Wheels for the World team and was given a sturdy, metal walker. When his amazed grandparents wondered at such a generous gift, they were told it was a gift from the God of the Bible who hears the cries of the afflicted. They heard about Jesus before, but now, they knew beyond a doubt that Jesus truly cared. So, Yang and his grandparents opened their hearts to Christ, and they threw out the idols, and started attending church. And Yang? He no longer struggles with loneliness.
