When you encounter hardship, remember that God determines your steps – and often, he has something even better in store for you.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As a quadriplegic, there are few things I can do using my paralyzed arm. But one thing I can do is feed myself. I have this special spoon that’s bent just right and fits into my arm splint. Well, one night my friend Judy and I went out to dinner. We sat down and Judy looked through my handbag for my special spoon, but it was gone. I was so disappointed. But Judy, she had an idea. After we ordered, she ran over to Williams-Sonoma and quickly purchased the oddest-looking spoon. But guess what? It worked! It worked even better than my old spoon. Right when I thought my missing spoon would spoil dinner, God had something better. That’s why I love Proverbs 16, where we are told that God determines our steps. With him in charge, he’s got it covered. So trust in him, friend. Let God determine your steps, and yes, maybe even your spoons.
