Today, if you need it, ask for help. God listens.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I remember once when I went to lunch with my friend, Melanie, and her two-year-old little girl, Abby. Little Miss Abby wanted to drink from a real glass cup. Her mommy wanted to assist her, but Abby was not about to give in. She wanted no help. But then, when Abby saw me asking Melanie to give me a sip of water [remember, my hands are paralyzed, so I need help when taking a drink]—when Abby saw me, an adult needing a hand, she quickly said, “Mommy, could you please help me?” Friend, we can learn a lesson from independent Abby. Because let’s be real, we all need help. Psalm 22 says God “...has not hidden his face from [the afflicted] but has listened to his cry for help.” Today, if you need it, ask for help. God listens. What’s more, so do a lot of his children and they stand ready to give a drink to you, the thirsty. Because friend, you need help.
