God Never Hits Snooze

Episode Summary

You can have no doubt that God is there, he listens, and best of all, he cares.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. In 1 Kings 18, Elijah mocks Baal and his followers saying, “Shout louder! Surely Baal is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” True, Elijah was describing Baal here, but – yikes – I confess that I've occasionally felt the same about my God. There are dry and weary times in prayer when I would swear that God wasn't listening, that he was distracted by some global crisis, or busy caring for refugees in Thailand. And maybe you’ve felt the same. Like God’s busy off taking a snooze. But he’s not. Your God and mine is the God of Elijah. His love is changeless and constant, and you have his undivided attention, day and night. True, there may be times when he leads you through a dry stretch, times when his joys aren't as evident, but never doubt this: he is there, he listens, and best of all, he cares.
