Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When Anthony and his wife, Lauren, lost their daughter at birth, they were devastated. They had prepared a nursery and given her the name Pieper – spelled in an unusual way, P-I-E-P-E-R. Friends who were comforting them in their grief, invited the couple to join them on a work trip to Europe. One day while exploring Amsterdam, Lauren spotted a restaurant called Pieper spelled just like their daughter’s name. That night the group ate at that restaurant, remembering Pieper and praying together. When leaving, they noticed an award hanging on the wall with Pieper’s name on it. Taking a closer look, Anthony and Lauren burst into tears. The date on the certificate was Pieper’s birthdate. What comfort! It showed them that God was right there in the middle of their suffering.
