No matter who you are, reflect Jesus in whatever circumstance you’re in. When you live out that purpose, you become the person God intended you to be all along – that is the definition of success.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And someone asked me the other day about my definition for personal success. I had to think for a moment, and then I remembered the mission statement that I wrote for my life many years ago after I became paralyzed. I even wrote it down and I’ve got it memorized. It says: “I want to be God's best audio-visual aid of how his power shows up best in my weakness.” So, for me, success is understanding God's purpose in my life, and then, getting actively engaged with the Holy Spirit to live out that purpose every day. Psalm 37 tells you to commit your way to the Lord and he will make your righteousness shine like the noonday sun. What’s God's purpose for your life? It’s to reflect Jesus in whatever circumstance you’re in, whether you’re a wife, a student, a prisoner, or a husband. Live out that purpose, friend. As you do, you become the person God intended you to be all along. And thatis success.
