Episode Summary

Even a wheelchair can set the stage for spiritual prosperity and a hopeful future.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Jeremiah 29:11 is a favorite of many, where it says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Great verse, huh? But does it mean that God will never allow physical injury; that he only wants to physically prosper us? Is that what a hopeful future is? Well, I'm the lady in the wheelchair who loves Jesus, and this wheelchair begs the question, didn’t God say his plans were not to harm you? Oh friend, because God is love, his plans can only be loving. Because God is good, his intentions for you are of the highest good. And because he is the Lord of hope, his purpose is to always give you hope. And often, his love, goodness and hope is experienced through poverty and pain. Yes, even a wheelchair can set the stage for spiritual prosperity and a hopeful future.
