Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And in many ways, what I learned through years of quadriplegia prepared me to battle cancer. As I was struggling against cancer, I kept thinking of Jeremiah 12:5 where it says, “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses?” Oh friend, cancer was a race against horses for me. But thankfully, quadriplegia and chronic pain had trained me to face it with confidence in God. Cancer didn’t seem so overwhelming or fearful because my faith had already been strengthened through years in my wheelchair. The Bible frequently describes how hardships train us in godliness. So don’t cast away; don’t forget the lessons your hardships have taught you. God is using them to train you to face perhaps even greater challenges in the future.
