Episode Summary

Like the people in Mark’s gospel, be overwhelmed with wonder whenever you worship Jesus.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I remember the first time I saw the Grand Canyon; I stood there in silent wonder. I was so amazed; it was so awesome. And you know, when I think of the word “wonder,” I am reminded of Mark 9 where it says, “As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.” Wonder is an emotional response which overwhelms us with amazement and delight. Charles Spurgeon said, “Holy wonder will lead you to grateful worship and heartfelt thanksgiving.” So, friend, think back on some experience, some event, some beautiful place you visited – a waterfall, a spectacular sunset, the birth of your child – something that made you stand breathless in wonder. Has your worship of the Lord Jesus matched that lately? It should. Like the people in Mark’s gospel, be overwhelmed with wonder when you worship Jesus Christ this Sunday.
