Though life’s hardships come and go – God’s promises never change.
In Matthew 24, Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and that verse has been such a comfort for so many years. Because more than 50 years ago when I broke my neck, I would flip through the Bible with my mouth stick searching for verses on God’s purpose in suffering—verses that I returned to time and again. Then, 16 years ago when I started dealing with chronic pain, those same Bible verses comforted me, and then those verses helped me again years ago when I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. My trials may have varied, but God’s Word has not. Circumstances kept changing, but not those Scriptures—and to this day, those Bible verses continue to help me. So, if today you are suffering, open your Bible and cling to God’s Word—though life’s hardships will come and go, God’s promises will never change.
