A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Grief and Glory

Episode Summary

Grief and glory are more connected than you think.

Episode Transcription

Recently I did a study to see exactly when and where the disciples finally accepted the fact that Jesus was to die. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And for most of his public ministry, whenever Jesus talked about his coming death, his disciples ignored him. Or they tried to talk him out of it. Once, Peter even scolded Jesus, like, “Lord, this is crazy talk; don’t be saying that you’re going to die!” But a switch occurs after they are with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. It is recorded in Matthew 17 that there, for the first time, Peter, James and John witnessed Jesus in all his glory. Shortly after they came down from the mountain, Jesus told them again that he was going to be betrayed, killed, and then be raised to life. And for the first time, the disciples were filled with grief. My point? Grief and glory are more connected than we think – so please, if you’re grieving today some loss, remember: the glory is coming, thanks to Jesus!
