Today, remember to cling to Jesus Christ, and he will guide you upward.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and the other day when my co-worker Evalerie complimented me on a pot of orchids, she mentioned that hers were not looking as great. Well, that’s because Evalerie forgot to “stake” her orchids. You see, orchids do not naturally grow upward. They usually cling to trees and then grow sideways or downward – it’s just their tendency. So, in order to keep the orchid stem from slumping, you’ve got to tie the shoot to a stake so that it’ll grow upward. If not, the weight of the flowers will break the stem. And, you know, we’re not much different from orchids; unless guided, we tend to go sideways, and even downward. And it’s why I love the wise words of Proverbs 3, “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Straight upward, right? So, remember to “stake” yourself to Jesus Christ.
