There’s only one influencer you should follow and that’s Jesus.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I’m so intrigued by the way Jesus called his disciples. Because in every gospel account, Jesus called them with two short words: “Follow me.” That is, don’t look back; don’t say you want to go first bury your dead, or try out the oxen you purchased; don’t say goodbye to your family, no; rather, follow me. Today, though, we think Jesus is saying, “You know, try following me for two or three days a week, and see how it feels. You know, kind of – let’s see if it works for you.” Friend, you can’t follow Jesus bit by bit, testing the waters to see if you can handle it. There is no such thing as following Jesus incrementally. Luke 9:62 says, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in God’s kingdom.” Today Jesus is saying, “Follow me.” So friend, put your hand to the plow and make strides forward: after all, you’re serving in the kingdom of God.
