Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And not many years ago, at one of our Joni and Friends Family Retreats, I met a little boy with cerebral palsy named Paul. He had a smattering of freckles, bright blonde hair, and the biggest smile. He also had a ton of special needs due to secondary complications – needing 24/7 care, Paul became the focus of his parents’ and his siblings’ energies. But over the years, as Paul grew, I realized that the whirlwind of activity surrounding him had less to do with his physical challenges, and more to do with this young man’s hands down, happy attitude through it all. Life revolved around Paul, not because of his many problems, but because everybody was drawn to his infectious love for Jesus.
