If today, you find yourself in bed, maybe from a surgery or extended illness, remember the words of Psalm 27.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And as a quadriplegic, I can say from experience that having to be in bed for a long time is no fun. Whenever I have to lie down for days because of a pressure sore or hip pain, I am not a happy camper. Staring at my ceiling, waiting for hours to pass by can get boring—because I can’t get my work done; I can’t sit at the table with my husband; I can’t move at all without help! But it’s in times like these that I speak the words of Psalm 27 to my soul. I tell myself, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, take heart, wait for the Lord.” And when I wait on God, I realize, guess what? I need the quiet; I need Jesus to get me to slow down to recall his promises. If today, you find yourself in bed, maybe from a surgery or an extended illness; if you’re in a hospital or in a care center, remember the words of Psalm 27. Then please, send an email to joniandfriends.org. Because we want to know how we can pray for you.
