If you’re afraid, remember the story of Gideon. The Lord foresees all and will always provide a way out to overcome your fears and hesitations.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The book of Judges tells the story of Gideon who went to war against the powerful Midianites. It says in the seventh chapter that the Lord spoke to Gideon saying, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. And if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” Oh friend, did you hear that? God said, “If you are afraid.” Look, that was a big, imposing army down there, but amazingly, God did not scold Gideon for his fear. Instead, God anticipated those fears. What’s more, God provided a way for Gideon to overcome those fears. Friend, if you are afraid, remember Gideon. And remember that the Lord foresees all your fears and hesitations. Plus, he will always, always provide a way out; a way to overcome.
