Nobody is as in touch or in tune with the sadness of your heart as God. So let God pay close attention to the cry of your soul.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And what does it mean to be disconsolate? The definition? Nothing can console you, comfort you, absolutely nothing. Like, when you lose your newborn child to a sudden infection, or your thirty-year marriage ends in a nasty divorce. Whatever it may be – friend, if today you are feeling disconsolate, and without hope, listen to the words of David in Psalm 5; he says, “Consider my groaning, O Lord, heed the sound of my cry.” Oh friend nobody is as in touch or in tune with the sadness of your heart as God. So let him heed – let God pay close attention – to the cry of your soul – all those deep, inexpressible fears and longings, and groanings. For he will not only pay attention to the cry of your soul, he will give you his consolation for everything about you that is disconsolate.
