Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My father was a national champion wrestler and I remember watching him during his matches – my sisters and I would cheer him on as he pinned his opponents. Now well, when it comes to asking God to redeem, let’s say, a friend who is unsaved, that idea of “pinning your opponent” can color our prayers. Occasionally we pray as though God were our opponent, like we have to convince him, or pin him down or force him to yield and be merciful. But in 2 Timothy, we learn that before the foundation of the world, God the Father was the one who conceived the brilliant plan to rescue sinners. The plan of salvation was inspired by the love of the Father, the obedience of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. No one had to force him to rescue sinners. So, join me in taking a different attitude – one of thanksgiving for his grace and mercy. ‘Cause when it comes to salvation, believe me, God is willing.
