Let the appearance of your heart be your priority, and the rest will follow.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Cathryn is a 21-year-old with a ready smile, but for her, carrying on a social life with a disfiguring disability, is not always easy. It’s why she loves being at Family Retreat, surrounded by other people with disabilities. Cathryn says, “Joni, I can be myself without worrying about looking just right.” And it’s true. All of us have struggled in one way or another with our self-image. But 1 Samuel 16 says, “The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Look, if Jesus is more interested in our hearts, shouldn’t we be, as well? After all, he sets the example. So, please, today, let the appearance of your heart be your priority, and the rest will follow. And hey, if you know someone with a disability, someone like Cathryn, who may be looking for support, direct them to joniradio.org.
