Suffering may be a part of God's mysterious plan, but his intent is always to show compassion, touching people at their point of need.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. What do you think was on the Lord's heart when he healed the paralyzed? Or when he opened the eyes of the blind? Scripture tells us he was moved with compassion, and am I glad for that. He got his emotions involved. When he healed people, he really meant it; he didn’t heal them just to teach a lesson or make a point. He truly cared! And oh, that helps me when I need the healing touch of Jesus, when I need to feel his compassion and know his heart. When it comes to suffering, Lamentations 3 shows the heart of Jesus for, “Though he brings grief [it says], he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.” Suffering may be a part of God's mysterious plan, but his intent is always, always to show compassion, touching people at their point of need. And this friend is the heart of the healer.
