When you are suffering, focus on the needs of those around you and help them to find hope.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and no matter how much you are suffering, there is always someone in a worse condition than you will ever be. I’m thinking of the many people with disabilities who live in places like Haiti, or South Sudan, or in Ukraine. When we who suffer focus on the needs of others who are hurting and starving for hope; when we in our own misery find ways to help them, Isaiah 58 promises that your light will rise, along with your hopes. God promises he’ll refresh you like a watered garden. Isaiah 58 says that God will turn your gloom into the brightness of the noonday sun. So today, find someone who is in worse straits than you are and lift them up. Serve them, and God promises that he will serve you with more peace and joy and hope than you can handle!
