A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Here in the Room With You

Episode Summary

What you can do in Christ is greater than anything your body cannot do.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And after I broke my neck, I became so frustrated and deflated just thinking about all the things I could not do. I could not play tennis, I could not brush my hair, I could not feed myself. And even though 48 years have passed since that accident, I still sometimes struggle with those feelings. It’s why I find so much comfort in the words of Amy Carmichael. After physical injuries caused her to be bedridden for several years, Amy wrote: “The things I cannot do are looking in through my window now, beckoning me and calling me. And God’s comfort says to me, ‘But I am here in the room with you; I am nearer than those beckoning, calling things. I come between them and you. And you have nothing to do now but to please me.’” Oh, friend, do not grow weary because of illness or disability. What you can do in Christ is greater than anything your body cannot do.
