A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

He's Listening

Episode Summary

Remember, the Lord is always listening, right over your shoulder.

Episode Transcription

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. Do you know someone who often comes across gruffly? A little rough around the edges? Or perhaps you've been told you sometimes sound harsh. Well if so, Philippians 4:5 has some good advice. It says, "Let your gentleness be evident to all." Okay, that much we know. But how does one change from being gruff to graceful? Well, take a look at the second half of that verse. It says, “…For the Lord is near." In other words, God is listening in on every conversation you have. He's sitting with your family at the supper table. He's in the car when someone cuts you off. He’s standing at the kitchen sink when you are coffee-klatching with your neighbors. The Lord is near, and that’s why we should be gentle with people. He’s looking over your shoulder. So, when you speak today, think about what you say and just as importantly, how you say it. More importantly, think about who is listening.
