Jesus is your friend, he’s your advocate, and intercessor – and no one cares for you quite like him.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And the other night as Ken and I were reading the Bible together [we were in the book of Job], and I was trying so hard to stay focused. Because my left hip was killing me, and my back was in pain. I felt so alone in my struggle, even though I was listening to the words of Scripture from my husband. All of a sudden, my ears perked up. It was the last few verses in the 16th chapter of Job. In the midst of his own disappointment, and anguish, and pain, Job says, “Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend…on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.” Wow, that was all I needed to hear. What a blessed reminder that Jesus, our Lord and Savior, is our friend, he’s our advocate, and intercessor – and no one cares for us quite like him. He is the one who pleads about us with God, just as a friend would. And that, he is.
