Keep looking on the bright side; look to Jesus. He’s your every reason to be of good cheer.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, amidst all the conflicts going on internationally right now, tough economic times, alarming reports on the nightly news or, for me, the aches and pains I experience after a long day in my wheelchair, God tells me – and he tells you – to be cheerful. In John 16 Jesus tells us that “In this world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” So sure, yes, life is full of trouble, but we’re supposed to take heart. Why? Because our source of joy is always the fact that our wonderful Savior is victorious over the world, the flesh, and the devil. And on this battered planet, reeling from the curse, our only fountain of happiness is that Jesus has triumphed, conquered, and overcome – and that means he gives you and me the power to do the same. So, keep looking on the bright side, Christian; look to Jesus. He’s your every reason to be of good cheer.
