Let the Lord carve away all that is dead and sinful within you, and he will display you as his masterpiece!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I remember the time my father went camping with us in the Sierras. There he sat on a picnic bench, working on a piece of old driftwood. Daddy was meticulously cutting away everything that was dead, dirty, and didn't belong [revealing a beautiful piece of wood worth displaying]. As I watched him, I kept thinking of how our Heavenly Father works in us in the same way. As Hebrews describes it, with the knife of his word, God cuts away everything in us that's dead, dirty, and that doesn't belong, revealing his beautiful creation: Christ in us, the hope of glory. We may not like it at first; we don’t like anything that cuts and scrapes away at us; it hurts! But, friend, you and I cannot display Jesus unless we submit to the hands of our craftsman. Let the Lord carve away all that is dead and sinful within you, and he will display you as his masterpiece!
