Hear Joni talk about the real meaning behind saying, In Jesus’s name, Amen.” You will think differently the next time you pray.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And we’ve all heard it. You know, we’re at church prayer night, interceding for finances, for wealth, and everything in between—and we wrap it all up with those words, “In Jesus’s name, Amen.” Well, I’ve been reading through the book of Acts, and it is surprising how many times, when referring to Jesus—that is, his character and his life— “the name” is mentioned. And it’s made me realize when I pray something “in the name of Jesus,” I should expect to receive things that are consistent with that name. Things such as patience and hope, peace and joy. The kind of joy that makes us glad, no matter what our financial status, what our home looks like, or how much suffering we’re dealing with. When we pray, God will grant us things that honestly reflect what the name of his son is all about. And, friend, that’s the best answer you could ever pray for—in his name.
