Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And Galatians 6 tells us to “carry each other’s burdens,” but what happens when the burden becomes too heavy to carry? Recently Jill shared with me, “Joni, when my best friend died at a young age, I felt so lonely, so sad and angry—not just for me, but for her 2 boys, her husband, her parents, and her family and friends.” Jill was, as the Bible says, “mourning with those who mourn,” but her anger revealed that she was carrying the burden of sorrow on her own shoulders. Could she really “cast her burden” [as the Bible says] upon the Lord? Could he be trusted? She realized, yes. God knows the personal grief of losing a dear loved one. And so, she laid her burden on the Lord. True, Jill is still grieving, but there’s a lot less anger. So today if you are burdened, come to Jesus, the one who will give you rest. His yoke is easy, and his burden is light.
