Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. For many years, Maria and her husband [who live in Guatemala] – they suffered in poverty, but they made do and kept a small roof over their heads. That is, until Maria gave birth to Jocelyn, who was born with autism. Maria’s husband felt it was all her fault, so he kicked mother and daughter out, leaving Maria and Jocelyn on the street. But Maria held on to Psalm 91: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” For a while, her physical shelter may have just been a bridge over the highway, but her true shelter from her troubles was the Lord. And the Lord took such good care of her. Through our Wheels for the World team and Guatemalan partners, we were able to build a small, permanent house for Maria and for Jocelyn. People with disabilities are in desperate need of help—your help. So, learn how you can make a difference at joniandfriends.org.
