Learn to see the difficult things in your life through the lens of the cross. Jesus exchanges the meaning of your suffering from something torturous to something that gives you a deeper reliance on God.
Hi, I’m Joni, and when Christ exchanged the meaning of the cross from a place of suffering, shame, and death to a place of healing, hope, and life, he opened up amazing possibilities for our own suffering and shame. Just look at my own wheelchair. For me, it’s no longer a place of pain and confinement; Jesus helped me exchange its meaning. And just as the cross was once considered an instrument of terrible torture, but is now a symbol of life and hope, I look at my wheelchair the same way. It’s no longer torturous; it’s a place of freedom and mobility. It is, in fact, the prison that has set me free. It has led me to a deeper reliance on Jesus. Friend, consider how Jesus can exchange the meaning of your suffering. Learn to see the hard, difficult things in your life through the lens of the cross. For it’ll give you hope in your hardship.
