Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Our Wheels for the World team was recently in Peru where we met Paola, a bright child with a serious disability. She told our physical therapist, “I want to be a teacher.” But Paola’s mother did not share her daughter’s enthusiasm. With tears, mom said, “How can God create such a sharp mind as my daughter’s, with legs that don’t work?” But then the physical therapist opened a Bible to Jeremiah 29 and read it to Paola’s mother. Suddenly this woman learned that God had plans for a hopeful future for her daughter Paola. Our therapist told her: “Encourage your daughter, pray for her. It’s your privilege as her mother.” That day, Paola received a wheelchair to help her reach her dreams. And her mother – the strength to encourage her little girl.
