Embrace the uniqueness that God gave you and reach for the character of Christ – make that your new standard.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And isn’t it interesting how we measure ourselves by other people, hoping that will confirm that we’re doing okay? Just as King Saul compared himself to young David, so many of us look for affirmation by what others do. But 2 Corinthians 10 says, “When they measure themselves by one another…they are without understanding.” They’re not wise. Friend, don’t look to others to see how well you’re doing; because others are probably looking at you – and that is a downward spiral, for sure. No, look to the Gospel. Look to the Word of God. Look to the character of Christ. Let the precepts of the Bible confirm if you are doing well in the faith, or if you’re falling behind. Believe me, someone else’s grass isn’t as green as you think. God has made you unique. So, embrace that. And reach for the character of Christ as your standard.
