How the Lord Sees It

Episode Summary

To see things from God’s point of view, open his word and use your lens of faith.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Do you ever wonder how God views your suffering? I’m sure you do—we all do. Well, let me share with you an insight I picked up from Dr. John Piper. He describes how the Lord has a capacity to look at the world through two lenses: a narrow lens and a wide-angle one. When the Lord looks at a painful event through his narrow lens, he sees the tragedy for what it is; it’s terrible and he is deeply grieved. But when God looks at a painful event through his wide-angle lens, he sees the tragedy in relation to everything flowing through it and from it. It is God's wide-angle lens through which he is working out “everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,” as Ephesians 1 says. And what lens do you need? Only your lens of faith. So, don’t doubt the heart of God today. To see things from his point of view, open his word and use your lens of faith.
