Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When things go south, how do you respond? Your friend shows up late for the carpool. The bag boy drops your eggs. A friend forgets to say “thank you” for the gift you gave her. Your neighbor’s dog leaves his calling card on your lawn. If you’re like me, you’ve got flesh and bones on you, and you don’t always respond with a smile. But Hebrews 12 tells us how to respond. Show the other grace, rather than anger or frustration. For if you don’t, if you grumble rather than give grace, a “bitter root grows up to cause trouble.” Showing grace is showing the same mercy that God has shown you. So, friend, remember that every day stuff happens, and every day we must make little choices for grace. Are you pressed up against one of those choices today? Well, don’t allow bitterness a toehold; take hold of Hebrews 12 and choose grace. It is the better, no, no, it’s the best way to respond.
