Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When my friend Bobbie was in her 20s, she began to memorize the words of hymns. Well, little did Bobbie know that the scores of hymns she committed to heart would so encourage her for the rest of her life. Because when doctors told Bobbie that her baby might have polio, all she could do was sing, “He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater.” And then, when at the age of 62, Bobbie received the diagnosis of Stage IV ovarian cancer, again, from her mouth flowed hymns like “All the Way My Savior Leads Me” and “I Need Thee Every Hour.” Friend now is the time to prepare yourself for the difficulties that lie ahead. So do as Colossians 3 says, today, “Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” Why? So that when hard times hit, like for Bobbie, you can be prepared to thank God in the midst of every trouble.
