God wants you to experience what it’s like to be lacking and wanting, so he can demonstrate miraculous provision in your life.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And oh, how I love the words of Habakkuk 3: “Though the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines; though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food; though there are no sheep in the pasture, and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Did you hear that emphasis? I will rejoice. I will be happily triumphant in God – even though my bank account’s low, bills are high, my health is a mess, my son’s failing math, and the refrigerator’s empty.” Oh friend, sometimes God wants you to experience what it is like to be lacking and be wanting. Why? Because then, God has a chance to come shining through – to show you that he can be your rescuer and deliverer. So, say, “I will rejoice” because God’s going to demonstrate his miraculous provision in your life.
