Investing in the kingdom means pouring yourself into things that’ll last for eternity.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and some people call a million-dollar painting an investment. But I say if you can’t pack it into your luggage when you step into the other side of eternity, do not call it a lasting treasure. Now I am not poking fun at your great-grandmother’s silver service. I’m just asking for a little perspective. For if you had all the money in the world, you could not purchase a single day – that day is a 24-hour gift from God that He wants you to invest. Invest in the kingdom means pouring yourself into things that’ll last for eternity, like friends around you and family – it means to spend your time and treasure on behalf of others – it means to promote the Gospel, help the needy, and capitalize on efforts that build the kingdom of Christ. To be a heaven-hearted Christian, you have to invest. So today, do as Matthew 6 advises – invest! And guess what? You’ll store up for yourself treasures in heaven.
