A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

It is Finished

Episode Summary

When you pray, you’re leaving your request at God’s throne – consider it done and in his hands.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And recently my friend Nicole shared that her five-year-old, after saying her nighttime prayers, turned and asked, “Mommy, is saying Amen the same thing as saying we’re done?” Nicole had to think a moment, but then she smiled and said, “Well, sweetheart, I guess so.” And she’s right. It’s a precious privilege to be able to go to God with our requests, but if we place before him our need and then pronounce “Amen,” we need to consider it done. It’s in the Lord’s hands now. We’ve given that problem to him and he will take care of it. There’s no more cause for worry, fear, or anxiety. Sadly, though, we often go back to the throne and try to wrench that need out of God’s hands. We want to mull it over; stew over it, worry about it. But “Amen” means “so be it” or “it is finished.” So, if today you have brought a petition before the Lord, say Amen and leave it at God’s throne!
