To overcome hardship in this world, there is only one person you can run to – Jesus. To be close to him is to be secure.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and when I was younger in age – and even younger in the faith – I would often hear older Christians speak about the sufficiency of Christ: Christ and Christ alone. Back then, to me, it all seemed too simple, too basic. There had to be more than just, you know, just Jesus. But now, after decades of living with quadriplegia, I see what those Christians meant, because to overcome pain and fear, heartache and hardship in this world, there is only one person you can go to – no, run to – and it’s Jesus. As Proverbs 18 says, it is in the name of the Lord that we are safe, because to be close to Jesus is to be secure. To be close to him is to have all the comfort and shelter, all the peace of mind and heart that you need to see you through the worst of times. So today, whatever troubles, whatever pain, whatever your need, remember, it’s all about Jesus. It really is.
