Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And it makes me smile to see young people serving at our Family Retreats—I’m thinking of Bobbie, a young college student. Though there were many ways she could’ve spent her summer, for three years now, Bobbie has served as a volunteer at our camps for families affected by disability. That’s because for Bobbie, Family Retreats are like [as she put it] “a little slice of heaven.” Why? Well, because the Bible says that heaven will be a place of joy. And Family Retreats are a place where God’s joy shines so brightly through broken lives – lives dealing with the day-to-day demands of a disability. It’s why this year; our Family Retreat theme is from Nehemiah 8:10 “… for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” So, c’mon! Join Bobbie and serve as a volunteer at one of our Family Retreats.
