A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Jesus Defines Your Life

Episode Summary

Ask God today, how you can be a blessing to others.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Elaine has Parkinson’s disease—that’s a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects her muscles, speech, and joints. But even with these symptoms, Elaine tries to focus on what she can do. From volunteering, to taking an adaptive dance class, to joining a four-part harmony choir—this woman keeps herself active. As she puts it, “Joni, I may walk and talk funny, but I can sing, and dance, and I can help others. There’s never a day where I don’t feel the discomfort of Parkinson’s, but I always ask God, ‘How can I be a blessing to someone else, today?’” Proverbs 11 says, “The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed.” And Elaine will tell you, the Lord continually blesses her each and every day, all because she allows Jesus—not her Parkinson’s, but Jesus—to define her life. If you’d like to join Elaine in serving others, contact us at joniandfriends.org.
