Jesus’s Attitude About Sin

Episode Summary

You are God’s temple, and Jesus is heaven bent on cleansing you from within.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s so easy to picture Jesus as loving and kind.

But it's harder to picture him as angry — violently angry. But the picture is there, laid out for us in Matthew 21. It’s the scene where Jesus enters the temple and kicks out the money changers. Overturning cash registers, grabbing greedy merchants and heaving them out the temple door on their self-righteous backsides. Yikes! Although it’s true that Jesus confronted sin gently, as with the woman at the well or the lady caught in adultery, Matthew 21 gives us a more complete picture of Jesus’s attitude about sin. It is, to him, an egregious offense, and he will go to any lengths to expose the dark recesses of your heart where sin tries to hide. But don’t be alarmed. That’s a good thing! Because now, we are God’s temple, and Jesus is still heaven bent on cleansing us within.
