Just One Look

Episode Summary

Let Jesus take the wheel – of a plane that is.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I once heard a story by Robert Louis Stevenson about passengers in a ship who became alarmed when the waves of a storm began crashing over the bow. Many thought that the end had come. Finally, one passenger, against orders, crept up on deck to see what was happening. But there he saw the pilot, strapped tightly to the wheel. And when the pilot caught sight of the terror-stricken man, he gave him a reassuring smile. At that point, the passenger backed down the steps, entered the hold, and announced to the others, “I have seen the face of the pilot, and he smiled at me. So, all is well.” That’s all it took—one look at the pilot’s face and a smile. So, friend, if you are in the midst of a storm, remember Psalm 27 says, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Seek his face and you’ll be assured that your pilot is at the wheel. His smile will calm any rocky waves.
