Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and isn’t it fascinating how sometimes, one little word in a Bible verse can make all the difference? Look at what the rich young ruler said to Jesus in Matthew 19. He asks him, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" When I read that the other day, my eyes fell on that little word “get.” No wonder the young man went away disappointed! He was all about doing something good in order to get something great. He did not realize that it was God who did something good in order to give us something great and that’s eternal life. Salvation is all about receiving, not getting. It’s about opening up our hands in humility to receive the mercy of God – not because we do anything to earn it, but because God did everything to give it. Today, keep the salvation message fresh by receiving from the Lord Jesus his mercies new and fresh for you every day.
