Learn From Children

Episode Summary

You can learn a lot from children.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I think I could say that almost every person has either experienced bullying or has seen it firsthand. But for children with disabilities the rate of bullying is rising significantly. It’s why I was so encouraged to learn of little James and his buddies. James is in the 5th grade, but because of his learning disabilities many of his classmates teased him constantly. Well, five boys at his school decided they just weren’t going to let other kids pick on James—and so, they decided to make James part of their group. From tying James’ shoe to sitting with him during lunch to making certain he got to class okay; these kids are showing Christ-like character; those boys are defenders; they’re advocates. And Jesus said we could learn from children, even being more like them in character. So, be inspired by those buddies of James. Advocating and disability? They go great together.
