Remain in Christ, let His words remain in you, and leave the answers to the Lord.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and the other day Sherry asked me on Facebook how I could maintain hope in a loving God when He doesn’t seem to be doing anything in the lives of those that you’re praying for. Well, I told Sherry that God answers prayer. Sometimes it is yes, sometimes it is wait, and often, it is no. But even when God gives a no answer, He is still caring. Sure, our natural bent is to ask God to fix things; change things, heal, or remove things; we want to see with our own eyes the evidence of His working! But His dealings are often subtle, slow and behind-the-scenes. Jesus says in John 15, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it’ll be done for you.” Is that a guarantee that God will answer prayer just the way we want Him to? No, it’s not. Sherry just needs to remain in Christ and let His words remain in her and leave the answers to the Lord.
