The heavenly groom is waiting for you so, do your part and get prepared.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. In the old Jewish tradition, engagements were lengthy: The young man traveled to the home of his loved one to ask for her hand in marriage. Then, he would pay a price to secure his bride-to-be. Then, the couple confirmed their covenant by drinking together from a cup of wine. After the marriage was established, an engagement period ensued during which the two were officially married yet did not live together. It was a long waiting period, but it gave the couple time to prepare themselves before their marriage would be consummated. Friend, you, and I, we’re the bride-in-waiting and we’ve got time before that big day in heaven when we will meet our groom, the Lord! So, let’s get ourselves prepared, ready to be presented “holy and blameless” before him. He’s given us this time to do just that. Our heavenly groom is doing his part, preparing a place. Now, let’s do our part and get prepared!
